On the strength of two second-half turnovers by Lincoln High School, Washington High overcame a three-point halftime deficit to advance to its second consecutive Turkey Bowl with a hard-earned 21-10 victory on Thursday.
“I tell the guys all the time that nothing is going to be easy, and I told them at halftime we didn’t really need to fix anything other than to just play harder,” Washington coach Karl Finley said.
Washington was held to 228 yards of offense, but a 6-yard TD run by Jamie McHenry and an 11-yard scoring run by Lajarie Mabrey put the Eagles over the top.
Washington will meet Mission in the AAA championship Thursday.
