Victim assaulted by elderly man seeking money

Don’t mess with old money.

A grumpy 79-year-old man bashed a person in the face with a metal bar Tuesday because “he didn’t have any money for him,” police said.

The injury was not life threatening. The 62-year-old victim suffered a laceration to his right eye during the assault at 23rd Street and Treat Avenue around 6:20 p.m., police said.

Police took the elderly man into custody for the assault.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
