Vacant parking lot targeted for open space

A vacant parking lot on 17th and Folsom streets is being targeted as a site for open-space revitalization, and the Planning Department is reaching out to the Mission District community to get feedback on potential plans.

The City is in the process of acquiring the lot, with the hopes of turning it into a neighborhood park. Next month, officials from the Planning Department will host a community forum to hear from Mission District residents about what they’d like to see in the new park.

The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Jan. 23 at the Marshall Elementary School on 1575 Capp St.
