An evacuation that was issued following a gas-line rupture Saturday morning in Richmond has been lifted, a Richmond Fire Department spokesman said.
The rupture at South 49th Street and Wall Avenue was reported by the Richmond Police Department just after 11:35 a.m.
A private contractor was doing work in the area and hit the 2-inch, low-pressure line at about 10:35 a.m., Richmond Fire Department spokesman Rico Rincon said.
All odors from the leak were gone by about noon, he said.
Residents were advised to leave immediately by car and avoid a one-block area near the rupture.
PG&E officials repaired the line by about 11:45 a.m., according to Rincon.
