UPDATE: Boy, 5, struck by hit-and-run vehicle; SFPD searching for car 

A 5-year-old boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Silver Terrace neighborhood Saturday.

Police are searching for the vehicle in the incident, which happened about 11:30 a.m. It is described as a 1980s dark-green hatchback with a missing passenger-side mirror. Witnesses said the driver was a Hispanic male.

The car was traveling west on Silver Avenue at Elmira Street -- near the Silver Terrace Playground -- when it struck the child in the crosswalk. Theboy had run ahead of a family member who was present.

The child’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
