An unlicensed driver admitted to consuming 12 beers in two-and-a-half hours before getting behind the wheel of a van last week and plowing into parked motorcycles in the Exclesior district.

An officer responded to the intersection of Mission Street and Ocean Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. Thursday to investigate the collision. He reportedly found the suspect sitting against a streetlight reeking of alcohol and with bloodshot eyes.

The boozed-up man admitted to downing the 12-pack, but apparently didn't mention that he fled the scene after the crash. Two owners of the damaged motorcycles reportedly chased after him a short distance and got him to exit his van.

“A records check revealed the suspect was unlicensed and had been cited numerous times for driving without a license,” Ingleside Station police said.

The suspect’s identity was not immediately available.
