Underground cable causes power outage in Daly City

A damaged underground cable in Daly City left nearly 6,800 customers without electricity Monday morning, a utility spokeswoman said.

The power outage was reported about 12:20 a.m. in Daly City’s Westlake neighborhood, west of Mission Street, PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

A downed wire was initially reported to have caused the power outage, but Morris said an underground cable was the actual cause of the disruption.

Around 2 a.m., PG&E crews restored power to about 4,000 customers. Morris said 1,526 residents were still without electricity as of 5:45 a.m.

The power for the remaining affected customers was expected to be restored later Monday morning, Morris said.
