Two pedestrians struck in separate incidents

Two pedestrians sustained life-threatening injuries when they were struck by vehicles in separate but near-simultaneous incidents Monday morning near City Hall and in the Bayview.

In the first, a 54-year-old woman was hit by a car at about 6:30 a.m. while crossing the street at Van Ness Avenue and Grove Street, police
Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.

About 10 minutes later, another woman was hit by a vehicle near Quint Street and Palou Avenue in the Bayview, Tomioka said.

Both victims suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where both underwent surgery.

The drivers in both cases pulled over afterward and no arrests have been made.
