Bicyclist hurt in collision, truck driver cited for illegal U-turn

A commercial truck driver was cited for making an illegal U-turn and striking a bicyclist in downtown San Francisco on Tuesday, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The truck reportedly made an illegal U-turn at Market and Front streets about 10:03 p.m. when the vehicle struck the bicyclist, police said.

The bicyclist, a 34-year-old man, sustained a broken arm and was treated at the hospital for his injury, which was not life threatening.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was cited at the scene for making an illegal U-turn and released, Shyy said.
