Trio claiming to be police barges into home

Oakland police are investigating an attempted home invasion robbery early this morning in which the suspects claimed to be police officers.

The incident was reported at 3:22 a.m. at a home in the 3000 block of Champion Street, police Officer Jeff Thomason said.

Three suspects knocked on the door of the home and claimed they were Oakland police officers, but one of the people inside the home became suspicious because there was no police car parked outside, Thomason said.

Thomason said the suspects then kicked down the door and entered the home yelling "Where's the money?"

However, the intruders apparently realized they had entered the wrong home and left quickly without taking anything, he said.

No injuries were reported.
