Three Peninsula middle school boys admitted Monday to sexually assaulting two girls on a class field trip, prosecutors said.
Two of the boys, ages 13 and 14, are facing up to eight years in a juvenile detention facility after taking the 12-year-old girls to a secluded area during a social studies field trip to Stulsaft Park in Redwood City, authorities said.
A third boy, 12, admitted to sexual battery, Wagstaffe said. Cases are pending against two other boys.
Admissions are the equivalent of a guilty plea in the adult court system, Wagstaffe said.
Sentencing has been set for Aug. 4.
Authorities say the students at John F. Kennedy Middle School assaulted the girls in March. The girls did not speak out about the attack until June.
