Three acts of arson extinguished over weekend

Police and the Fire Department were called to the scene of three suspicious fires this past weekend.

1000 block of Connecticut Street
7:50 p.m. Saturday

It ain’t easy being green. An unknown arsonist lit an 8-foot-by-6 patch of grass on fire and fled, police said.

Plymouth and Holloway avenues
12:36 a.m. Saturday

From hot off the press to burning on the hood. An unknown firebug stacked newspapers on the hood of a 50-year-old woman’s car and set them ablaze, causing damage to the vehicle, police said.

200 block of Trumbull Street
11:52 p.m. Friday

This car went from hot rod to washed up. The Fire Department responded to a report of a car on fire and believe it to be arson, police said. The vehicle was towed to Pier 70.
