This Christmas concert has someone special

’Tis the season for ... well, every local radio station’s top-billed Christmas concerts, frankly.

And Alice 97.3 will be doing theirs in grand style this Thursday at Bimbo’s 365 Club in The City, with Train and Michael Franti headlining.

But the real news is the show’s opening act, frosted-haired newcomer Christina Perri, who’s got a success story that could warm the cold heart of Scrooge himself. This girl has paid her dues.

The Pennsylvania native moved to L.A. at 21, got married and started directing music videos. But things fell apart, her marriage ended in divorce and she crawled back to Philadelphia, defeated.

Then she wrote her insanely addictive ballad “Jar Of Hearts,” moved back to Hollywood and started waitressing at the Melrose Café, hoping for her big break.

It came.

Through an insider friend, “Jar” was featured on TV’s “So You Think You Can Dance” series this June, in a sequence by Billy Bell and Kathryn McCormick.

The next day, Perri hung up her apron for good. The song soon sold over 100,000 copies, and paved the way for her “The Ocean Way Sessions” debut EP and a full-length album this spring. Catch her at this smaller venue while you can.
