Judging by past elections, third-party groups, who can spend and raise unlimited sums of money will flood the races with most of their spending a week before Nov. 8 Election Day.
Forty-five percent of the total third-party spending in the November 2010 election occurred one week before that election, according to analysis done by the Ethics Commission. Twenty-one percent occurred two weeks before the election, and 19 percent in the third week before the election. Soft money began being spent in that election six weeks before voting day.
