Police are searching for the person who robbed a man and then shot him several times Tuesday morning in The City’s Japantownneighborhood.

The 31-year-old male victim had driven to a Burger King with his wife about 5:30 a.m. While his wife waited in the car, police said, the man walked to the restaurant near the intersection of Geary Boulevard and Laguna Street. A man carrying a handgun approached the victim, police said. The suspect demanded money and the victim complied.

However, after handing over cash, the victim reportedly tried to push the gun aside. The suspect then shot the man twice, once in the hip and once in the calf, before fleeing, police said.

The man was able to return to his car and his wife drove him to San Francisco General Hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

No arrests have been made.
