The crook had thighs of steal.
A thief accused of robbing a mother with two children of an iPhone on Powell Street last week apparently had trouble hiding the mobile device in his sagging pants, police said.
After catching the suspect after a brief foot chase, officers reportedly found the phone “clenched” between his thighs.
The victim told police she had her iPhone swiped while she was waiting for a cable car with her 5-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter, Tenderloin Police Station officers said.
She shouted about being robbed as the thief fled toward Market Street. Several witnesses described the suspect to police and he was subsequently located at Fifth and Market streets, police said. He ran from officers, but was quickly caught.
“His pants were sagging and officers could see an iPhone clenched between his thighs,” police said.
The victim positively identified the suspect, who’s on probation. A search also uncovered five Oxycodone pills, police said.
He was booked on suspicion of street robbery with force, possession of a controlled substance and a probation violation.
