U2’s Bono has been popping up everywhere this week to call attention to the fact that today, Dec. 1, is World AIDS Day, and to shed light on his (RED) organization’s ongoing global fight against AIDS.
But venerable Vegas outfit The Killers are once again doing their part, too, pausing long enough during their new album sessions to record their sixth consecutive benefit Christmas single, “The Cowboys’ Christmas Ball,” out today on iTunes.
All proceeds go directly to (RED). And it’s a Killers collectible — it features Brandon Flowers and company performing a classic 1890 cowboy poem by Larry Chittenden, set to a hoe-down beat.
And there are a couple of novel twists this year for The Killers. ITunes has also made all six Noel numbers available as an exclusive EP, with proceeds again going to (RED). Or you can receive your choice of the collection by pledging a donation to The 2015 Quilt, at www.2015quilt.com. A video is set to follow shortly.
