Shine Dance + Lounge

Where I go to dance in an intimate space with great DJs and a cool local vibe. You can’t go wrong piling everyone in your party into the photo booth, which streams live all night long.

FAVORITE PLACE TO TAKE VISITORS

Japanese Tea Garden

WHERE:
7 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive (Golden Gate Park)

WHAT:
Native Japanese plants, ponds and bridges

INFO: www.japaneseteagardensf.com

I love taking visitors here because it is one-of-a-kind. A leisurely stroll through the gardens followed by a cup in the tea house makes for a memorable afternoon. Being here when the fog rolls in is extra special.

255 King St., at Fourth Street

WHAT: A spa for you and your mouth

INFO: (415) 644-0644 or www.dentalspasanfrancisco.com

You’re greeted by a wonderful host and a waterfall, and the experience continues as you choose your hand or eye treatment to have while getting your teeth gently cleaned by Dr. Kogan. A warm towel at the closing makes it simply blissful at the dentist.

Arkansas Friendship Community Garden

WHERE:
705 Arkansas St., at 22nd Street

533 Sutter St., at Powell Street

WHAT: Furious entertainment with audience participation

INFO: (510) 595-5597 or www.bigcityimprov.com

For a fantastic hour of good laughs any time of the year. This is a great downtown experience where you can take locals, out-of-towners or yourself for some Friday night fun.

INFO: (415) 514-4545 or campuslifeservices.ucsf.edu/fitnessrecreation/missionbay

This UCSF Mission Bay campus is where I go for an amazing outdoor swimming pool and climbing wall on the fourth floor overlooking The City. All new, state-of-the-art equipment, and plenty of classes make this my home away from home.
