A bank employee was pistol-whipped during the course of a bank robbery in the Sunset on Friday, police said Monday.

Three masked men entered the bank in the 700 block of Irving Street about 3 p.m. and jumped over the counter and attacking the 42-year-old male employee.

The crooks grabbed an unknown amount of cash from several tills and fled the scene northbound on Eighth Avenue in a white, 4-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus, police said.

The employees injuries were not believed to be life threatening and no arrests have been made.
