Teenager severely injured in Marina car accident

A 17-year-old girl was fighting for her life following a car wreck that injured four young people in the Marina district Thursday morning, police said.

All four were riding in a vehicle that flipped over and struck another vehicle when the 19-year-old driver, who may have been drunk, lost control at Richardson and Lombard streets around 3:20 a.m., cops said.

The male driver and two 20-year-old female passengers in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The 17-year-old’s injuries were severe, police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured, police said.

Details on the accident are scarce at this point. Current police reports indicate the driver lost control around a curve, causing the vehicle to flip and then strike the second car, police said.

The driver is being investigated for DUI, police said.
