A teenage boy was killed and another teen and adult were injured in a shooting Friday night in the Bayview district, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said Monday.
The victim was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Jaquan Morton, 17, of San Francisco. Morton was with two other people in the 1200 block of Griffith Street near Palou Avenue about 8:46 p.m. when all three were fired upon by unknown gunmen, Fong said.
Morton was shot in the chest, Fong said, and the other victims were struck in the shoulder and wrist, respectively.
The three victims were taken to a hospital by witnesses, police said. Morton was pronounced dead upon arrival. The two other victims’ injuries were not considered life-threatening.
No arrests had been made as of Monday and there was no suspect information. Inspectors could not say if the shooting was gang-related. An investigation is ongoing, Fong said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact police at (415) 575-4444 or by text to TIP411.
The death is San Francisco’s 19th homicide of the year.
