Suspected BART copper thief arrested outside home 

A San Francisco man suspected of stealing copper wiring from BART tracks was arrested Thursday morning.

52-year-old Dennis McGuire, who has a lengthy criminal history, was arrested outside his residence in the 4200 block of 24th Street, according to BART officials.

The BART police department went to his home in the Mission neighborhood expecting to serve an arrest warrant, but found him outside and arrested him.

Once he was under arrest, cops searched his home and found additional evidence of metal theft, including lengths of cables that are suspected as being taken from BART as well as small amounts of drugs. Both were taken were recovered as evidence.

McGuire was taken into custody for multiple felony thefts and related charges, then booked into San Francisco Jail.
