Two separate shootings in San Francisco since Friday injured one man and killed another, according to police.
A 24-year-old San Francisco man was shot and killed in a Nob Hill apartment complex Saturday, police Officer Carlos Manfredi said. And on Friday afternoon, a man was wounded in a shooting in the Mission district.
The homicide victim was identified Sunday by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Geoffrey Greer.
In the Saturday incident, police responded to the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue about 2:30 a.m. and discovered that Greer had been shot. According to witnesses, Greer was involved in a dispute with a man in his 60s who police believe is the shooter. The relationship between the two and whether either one of them lived in the apartment complex was still unknown as of Sunday, Manfredi said.
The older man is considered a suspect and is in police custody. An investigation is ongoing.
The second shooting occurred Friday in broad daylight at 15th and Guerrero streets. A male victim who appeared to be in his 30s was standing at that intersection about 4:30 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up to the corner, Manfredi said. Two male suspects reportedly got out of the car and one of them shot the victim, hitting him once.
The suspects then fled in the car. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were reportedly not life-threatening.
Police did not have detailed suspect descriptions but believe the pair were possibly driving a dark-colored four-door SUV. The gang task force is investigating the incident, but as of Sunday no motive of the shooting was released.
