  • Gay-rights supporters began marching in the Castro district on Monday and ended at City Hall.

Gay-rights supporters march from the Castro district to City Hall on Monday, the day before the start of arguments in the U.S. Supreme Court case on the validity of Proposition 8, Californias voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage. The court also will address the Defense of Marriage Act this week.
