Supes to vote on extending eviction protections

On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors will vote on legislation that would extend eviction protections to tenants in about 20,000 rental units that have gone onto the market since June 1979. The City requires that landlords offer “just cause” for evictions of tenants living in rental units built prior to June 1979 – the same units that have controls on rent increases – but no such protections are in place for those units built later than that date. There are currently 15 just cause reasons for evictions.
