Supervisors' winter recess starts Wednesday

With the holiday season, City Hall becomes quiet. On Wednesday, the Board of Supervisors officially begins winter recess.

That means no meetings until Jan. 4, which is the first scheduled full board meeting following the break.

The last long break supervisors enjoyed was over the summer, when many decided to travel.

The board takes up some big votes during its final full board meeting of the year Tuesday, with a second and final vote scheduled on local hiring legislation, and a likely vote on an agreement to host the America’s Cup.

There’s also potential for a vote on who the board should pick as interim mayor.

The board’s Jan. 4 meeting, by the way, is the last meeting of termed-out supervisors Chris Daly, Sophie Maxwell, Bevan Dufty and Michela Alioto-Pier.

If they don’t make a decision on interim mayor then, look to the new board members who will be sworn in Jan. 8. The new board makeup is said to be more moderate.
