The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Tuesday 10-year leases with 25 separate airlines. Nineteen of the 25 proposed leases are for airlines that currently have a lease with the airport. The six other airlines are: Emirates, Frontier Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Southwest Airlines, TACA and Virgin Atlantic.
The airlines pay the same rental rate with payments varying based on how much space is occupied. The 25 proposed leases would provide the airport with $3.996 billion during the 10-year period, and sink into The City’s general fund during the same time period $323 million.
