The Honda was traveling northbound on 10th Avenue about 12:20 p.m. when it ran a red light at Geary Boulevard and struck an SUV heading east, police Officer Albie Esparza said. Two other cars were also involved in the wreck.
Two people were hospitalized, but their conditions were unknown as of late Wednesday afternoon. Three other people were injured, including a pedestrian who was struck by debris.
The driver of the Honda will be arrested on suspicion of possessing of a stolen vehicle, Esparza said.
Traffic was impacted on Geary between 9th and 11th avenues, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.
An owner of a battery and tire company in the 4200 block of Geary Boulevard said he saw a Lexus SUV overturned on its roof and that three other cars were involved and that the crash was "pretty messed up."
