St. Mary's Cathedral repeatedly defiled by unwelcome churchgoer

An unwelcome churchgoer’s bizarre and unholy behavior at St. Mary’s Cathedral got him once again ejected from the shrine over the weekend, police report.

Northern Station police say staff at the cathedral, located at the corner of Gough and Geary, called cops after a repeat trespasser once again showed up on Saturday morning.

Police have an ongoing and deeply disturbing file on the man.

“The subject is known for sleeping in the church pews, defecating on the property, and masturbating in the Cathedral,” police said. “The subject’s behavior has also frightened people at St Mary’s.”

Officers on Saturday accepted a citizen’s arrest from church staff and escorted the man out. He was cited and released, police said.

The man has been offered “numerous services” by officers and the church to help him find a place to stay, but he continually refuses, police said.
