After Occupy SF tents were cleared from Justin Herman Plaza late Wednesday night, San Francisco police had to chase off protesters who tried to set up camp again early Thursday, according to media reports.
Footage from KGO-TV showed one tent in the plaza around 5:30 a.m. Thursday. The station also aired footage of an earlier attempt by protesters to set up a tent there that ended when police chased them and took the tent away.
The local contingent of the Occupy Wall Street movement had been camped at Justin Herman Plaza at the foot of Market Street in the Financial District since October. Early Wednesday morning police dismantled the camp.
After a day of more than 85 arrests, police said there were no additional arrests to report at 11:36 p.m.
Throughout the day protesters and police faced off as the group tried to reclaim the area.
Protesters who had repitched a handful of tents at the site Wednesday evening voluntarily removed them by midnight, according to police.
