Jody Llewellyn, the founder and CEO of Sidewalk Skincare, based at 3701 Sacramento St. and launched last year, tells us why the signature Shoe Survival Balm is a must-have.
Why did you start Sidewalk Skincare? It was influenced by my own experience in San Francisco. I used to get blisters from wearing impractical heels and walking downtown from Russian Hill. I started to dream of a product that ... was beautiful, made by the highest-quality ingredients, looked like a cosmetic, and could easily fit in a hangbag or pocket while running out the door.
Tell me about the product. We use naturally derived ingredients, lavender being a primary one, sourced from San Leandro. It is for everyone from the shoe addict to the working mother and endurance athlete and then everyone in between. The balm can be used as a soothing barrier with new shoes, heels that pinch or shoes that rub. It can also be used for straps that dig into your skin.
Where can people buy Shoe Survival Balm? It retails for $18 in numerous San Francisco establishments, from wedding boutiques and spas to shoe shops and clothing boutiques.
