Six people were hospitalized after the vehicle they were riding in was struck by another vehicle at Geary Street and Van Ness Avenue early Wednesday morning, police said.

The suspect vehicle was driving westbound on Geary about 12:40 a.m. when it collided into the other vehicle that was traveling on Van Ness, causing that vehicle to roll over, police said.

The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 22-year-old woman, reportedly tried to flee the scene on foot because her car was disabled, Sgt. Eric O'Neal said, but was later apprehended and arrested.

She was identified as Viridiana Arias, of East Palo Alto, and was booked on charges of drunken driving, hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and a vehicle code violation related to failing to stop at a red light.

The six people in the car that was struck, two men and four women, were taken to the hospital for their injuries, which were reportedly not life threatening.
