Show Dogs owners launch Rescue Dog Days in San Francisco to raise money for nonprofits

Along with fellow Show Dogs co-owner and chef John Clarke, Gayle Pirie is launching Rescue Dog Days, a series of bimonthly events to raise money for six local nonprofits. They will run 6 to 8 p.m. at Show Dogs, 1020 Market St., starting Thursday.

Why are you partnering with six San Francisco nonprofits? It’s a time to reach out to, and partner up with, community groups to help each other. We have the means to do it, and are interested in helping raise the profiles of these charities. Each event will be dedicated to one nonprofit.

How did you decide on the six organizations? Firstly, they were local, and secondly, they are all very different and have particular niches. For instance, S.F. Food Bank is a great program as hunger is very serious and Project Night Night gives to homeless children.

What do the events involve? It’s $20 for a ticket that will get the donor drinks, appetizers and ambiance while helping out volunteer-based charities in an easy way. It’s a great way to check out Show Dogs with some of our signature bites like the curry dogs and pork sausages. There will be a nice selection of many local organic beers, biodynamic wines and lemonade.
