Shots were fired into a Muni bus in Potrero Hill on Thursday afternoon, injuring a male passenger, police said.

The shooting, reported about 2:15 p.m., occurred on an inbound 19-Polk bus in the area of 25th and Wisconsin streets.

Three male suspects boarded the bus at the intersection, Sgt. Dennis Toomer said. At some point the males exited the bus and multiple shots were fired into the vehicle, Toomer said.

The female Muni driver reportedly drove the injured male passenger, who suffered a "superficial wound" to San Francisco General Hospital with other passengers still on the bus, according to Sgt. Dennis Toomer.

In the middle of the street on Wisconsin at 25th about 3:30 p.m., evidence markers accompanied two shell casings. The Muni bus was surrounded by crime tape at SFGH.

Further details about the incident, including a motive for the shooting or the condition of the wounded passenger, were not immediately available. The suspects were described only as black men, all about 6 feet tall.

There are no suspects in custody, Toomer said, adding that Wisconsin Street from 25th to Carolina streets was shut down for an investigation.
