A teenager is lucky to be alive after he was fired upon at a convenience store in the Silver Terrace neighborhood on Saturday, police said.

The 19-year-old male victim was in the store in the 2400 block of San Bruno Avenue about 9:30 p.m. leaning against the counter when he heard several shots ring out, police said. The victim ducked and hid behind some shelves.

The suspect was very lucky to not have been struck, police said. A phone the victim was holding against his head had a bullet lodged inside of it and a bullet had gone through the victim’s t-shirt “miraculously missing his body,” police said.

Video surveillance from the store captured the assault and suspect and police believe the incident to be gang related.
