The A’s added veteran shortstop Stephen Drew from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a trade for minor-league infielder Sean Jamieson late Monday.

Drew, who missed 137 games with Arizona from July 21, 2011, through June 26 due to a fractured right ankle, was batting .193 with eight doubles, one triple, two home runs and 12 RBIs in 40 games since returning to the Diamondbacks. The 29-year-old Drew will report to Oakland today.

He is a .266 career hitter with 176 doubles, 52 triples, 72 home runs and 333 RBIs in
773 games.

Jamieson, 23, was Oakland’s 17th-round choice out of Canisius College in the 2011 draft.

Anderson back in bigs: The A’s activated left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson from the 60-day disabled list and he is scheduled to make his first major-league start of the season today against the Minnesota Twins. Anderson had Tommy John surgery performed on his left elbow on July 14, 2011, and he has not pitched in a major-league game since June 5, 2011.
