Sharks will open next season at Stanley Cup champion Kings

  • The Sharks and Kings went to seven games in their playoff series this year and the two teams will kick off next season against one another.
The Sharks will open next season on the road Oct. 8 against the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings as the NHL announced 2014-15 schedules on Sunday. The Kings ended the Sharks’ season after overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs this season.

The Sharks’ home opener is slated for Oct. 11 when the Winnipeg Jets make the trip to the SAP Center.

The Sharks will play a total of 30 games within the Pacific division, facing divisional opponents Anaheim, Arizona, Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles and Vancouver a total of five times each.

The Sharks’ home schedule features 17 weekend games (16 on Saturday and one on Sunday). The busiest home weeknight is Thursday with 10 games scheduled.
