SFO K-9 unit receives federal funding

The Board of Supervisors Public Safety Committee approved a $700,500 Transportation Security Administration grant that will help pay for the San Francisco International Airport’s K-9 Explosive Detection Team program. The total program cost is $2.3 million, which includes $2.1 million in handler salaries and $117,000 in overtime.

The grant requires approval by the full board, which is expected.
