SFMTA to meet with residents to discuss Carl Street rail replacement

Cole Valley residents will get an update tomorrow night on the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s plans to upgrade rail infrastructure along Carl Street.

The rail project, scheduled to begin next year, will repair trackway used by Muni’s N-Judah on Carl Street between Arguello Boulevard and Cole Street. The work is part of an ongoing citywide project to replace Muni’s aging rail infrastructure, much of it over three decades old.

The Carl Street Rail Replacement Project is expected to result in the shutdown of the N-Judah line on several different weekends between February 2012 and February 2013, according to the SFMTA, which operates Muni.

On Wednesday night, the agency will meet with community residents and businesses to discuss how the plan will affect the neighborhood. The forum is scheduled to last from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Grattan Elementary School on 165 Grattan Street.
