SF woman, 85, killed in Visitacion Valley fire 

A woman killed in a fire in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood Tuesday evening has been identified as 85-year-old Jane Thompson of San Francisco, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Five other people were injured, two critically, in the two-alarm fire that was reported at 5:25 p.m. at a residence in the first block of Castillo Street near Geneva Avenue, fire officials said.

The fire caused nearly $200,000 in damage to three buildings, officials said.

The blaze was controlled by firefighters at 6:09 p.m., fire officials said. The conditions of the five victims had not been updated as of Wednesday.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist six residents who were displaced by the fire.
