S.F. Bulls to kick off first season Oct. 12

Regular-season professional hockey will return to San Francisco for the first time in more than 16 years on Oct. 12.

The San Francisco Bulls will kick off their inaugural season in the ECHL against the Bakersfield Condors at 7:15 p.m. at the Cow Palace, the team announced as part of the unveiling of its 72-game schedule Wednesday.

The schedule includes 36 home games at the Cow Palace and 36 road games.

A total of 27 home games are scheduled for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Home games Monday through Saturday will begin at 7:15 p.m., with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. Sunday home games will begin at 2:15 p.m., with doors opening at 1:15 p.m.

After hosting Bakersfield opening weekend, the Bulls hit the road for a nine-game road trip while the Grand National Rodeo comes to town. The longest home stint of the season will be an eight-game stretch from
Dec. 21 to Jan. 16.
