The San Francisco Police Department's bomb squad determined that a suspicious package found in The City's Hunters Point neighborhood Monday afternoon was not explosive, a police spokesman said.

The discovery was reported around 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of Evans Avenue and Keith Street, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The bomb squad responded and investigated the package for more than two hours.

Investigators secured the device and rendered it safe. The area was reopened at around 5 p.m., Esparza said.
