Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., on why his party can’t pass a tax plan: ‘Because we’re Democrats’

No seriously, that’s the quote from the Boston Globe:

In the Senate, at least three moderates — Ben Nelson of Nebraska; Kent Conrad of North Dakota; and Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut — joined [Republicans] in saying tax cuts must be extended for everyone. When asked why his party could not agree on a plan, Senator Chris Dodd, Democrat of Connecticut, said simply, “Because we’re Democrats.’’

The rest of the article, “Middle class tax-cut issue backfiring on Democrats,” is worth reading as well.
