Security guard belted with buckle in San Francisco beer burglary

Police are on the lookout for a couple of belt-wielding booze hounds who pilfered some pilsner from a San Francisco supermarket Monday.

The two suspects, a man and a woman, both in their 20s, were already being escorted out of the Safeway in the 2000 block of Market Street by a security guard about 11:52 p.m., police said.

On their way out, the suspects grabbed a couple beers, police said. The guard told the crooks to put the beers back, but they refused, and the female suspect hit the guard over the head with a belt buckle.

The suspects fled the scene on foot and no arrests have been made.

The security guard's injury was not serious, police said.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444.
