A San Francisco man has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 20-year-old Cameron Myers in Hunters Point earlier this month, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Las Vegas police arrested Andrew Zamora, 24, on May 21 in connection with a killing that occurred just six days before near India Basin Shoreline Park, police said. Zamora is awaiting extradition to San Francisco, Officer Albie Esparza said.
Three days after the incident, police arrested a 15-year-old in his hometown of Nevada City, also on murder charges. Investigators have not said what led to the arrests or why Myers was killed.
Esparza said he didn't know whether there would be more arrests but added the case remains open and active.
Myers was heard screaming near Innes Avenue and Arelious Walker Drive, about a block from India Basin Shoreline Park, about 1:45 a.m.
Neighbors called 911 and found Myers on the sidewalk at the southeast corner of 800 Innes Ave. He was bleeding profusely from multiple stab wounds.
Myers' loved ones are stunned about the killing. He had no criminal record, authorities said, and friends described him as kind fun-loving, and loyal. He had reportedly been planning to join the military after his 21st birthday in September, said Lani Stone, the mother of one of Myers' close friends.
Following a memorial that was held for Myers Saturday, friends and family members posted messages on his Facebook page.
"I will never forget you & how much of an amazing person & friend you were to everyone, even strangers," a loved one wrote.
