Katy Perry is — once again — back on the market! Just weeks after cuddling with new beau Rob Ackroyd at Coachella, the blue-haired pop star is single. Reportedly the former Mrs. Russell Brand ended her rebound romance with the Florence + the Machine guitarist over fears that their schedules would make a relationship too challenging.
The main thing that led to her split with Russell was spending the majority of her marriage to him on tour, and she said dating Rob felt like being with Russell all over again, a source told the U.K.’s Mirror.
“It’s a shame as they both liked each other, but Katy wants to be able to have a relationship with someone she isn’t constantly having to work out what time zone they’re in. Rob was gutted, but Katy said she didn’t want to get in too deep and then break his heart, so it was best to cut things off before they got serious.”
“Rob was the first guy Katy had been with since splitting from Russell,” noted the source. “She was still extremely fragile, but had told pals their two weekends at Coachella together made her feel ‘sexy and alive’ again.”
Well, if the lyrics of her latest tracks are any indication, Katy has a looong way to go before she actually gets over Russell. And considering how scathing said lyrics are, Rob may have dodged a bullet with this pre-emptive breakup.
After a scare, actor Nick Stahl has reportedly checked in to rehab; his wife tells People magazine that after confirming he’s in treatment, she’s “elated.”
“He wants to be well,” Rose Stahl declared to E! “He’s a good man, and we want him home so we can help him.”
Rose had reported the “Terminator 3” star missing a week ago and confessed she feared he might suffer a drug overdose. When he emailed friends Friday saying he was seeking treatment, she expressed relief — tempered by skepticism.
“There are questions and details that I didn’t ask and don’t need to know,” Rose tweeted after the news broke. “I don’t have details.”
Cautious optimism seems like the way to go here. Emphasis on “cautious.”
Back on the press circuit, John Mayer is attempting to explain all those douchey interviews he did a couple years ago … but he’s not doing a very good job of it.
During the days when he talked about ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson as “sexual napalm,” among many other distasteful remarks, “I had nothing to say,” the singer-songwriter declared to NPR. “I was going through a time in my life where I didn’t really want to share what was going on, but I didn’t want to be boring,”
“I remember thinking to myself, ‘We gotta give a Rolling Stone interview … I don’t want anybody at Playboy to think this is a boring interview,’” recalled the musician.
