Well, that was fast. Days after announcing their separation, Christina Aguilera has filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman after five years of marriage.
At the time, a source told Us magazine that the couple were “just trying to figure things out” and were living apart on a trial basis — but Xtina seems to have made up her mind pretty quickly.
In the filing, obtained by TMZ, she cites “irreconcilable differences” and says they separated Sept. 11. There is reportedly a
prenup, and the singer asks that her “earnings and accumulations” both before and during the marriage not be considered shared assets.
Christina also seeks joint custody of the couple’s 2-year-old son, Max, and wants to bar Jordan from getting spousal support.
T.I. has had his share of trouble with the cops, but he was definitely on the right side of the law Wednesday. After hearing on the radio that a suicidal man was on the roof of a building, intending to jump, he helped Atlanta police talk the man down.
“It summoned my heart, my spirit,” T.I. told TMZ of learning about the incident. “I said to myself ... I gotta help.”
Upon arriving at the scene, he said, “I just asked the officer if there was anything I could do to help resolve this peacefully.”
The jumper at first didn’t believe that T.I. really wanted to speak with him, but an officer recorded a video message to take up to the man, in which the hip-hop star pleaded, “Nothing is that bad. Nothing in life is worth taking your life. I’m here to help you. Please come down to talk to me.”
Lo and behold, “15 minutes later the guy came down peacefully.”
T.I. said he told the man, “No matter how bad things get, they get better ... if you unplug the game then you don’t get extra men ... when it gets bad, you feel bad, but it can get better.” He plans to stay in touch with the 24-year-old and help him “get better.”
“I’m not taking any credit,” T.I. said in a radio interview. “It could have been resolved in another way. The fact of the matter is God put me in a position, and put in my spirit to be in the position to help, and I can’t take any credit for that.”
OK, we’re getting a little verklempt now.
When they aren’t busy trying to break up Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the tabloids are taking their parenting skills to task. The power couple’s six kids are “out of control,” an insider told In Touch magazine.
“The children rule the household and are always running around like monsters,” the source said. (Isn’t that, well, what kids do?)
“No matter what, the kids get their way,” the source said.
The famously free-spirited Oscar-winning actress is “a disciplinarian on certain things, but she is extremely liberal in other ways,” a friend said. “Angelina doesn’t make anything taboo.” That supposedly includes letting the kids watch R-rated movies and quote lines with swear words. They have even been heard to — zut alors! — curse in French.
Hey, the oldest Jolie-Pitt kid — Maddox — is just 9. If these children can already curse in two languages, that’s pretty advanced!
