School district holds town hall over school assignment system

The Board of Education for The City’s public schools is changing the way students are assigned to schools. The district is holding a town hall meeting on potential changes Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dianne Feinstein Elementary School, 2550 25th Ave. The current controversial system invites parents to apply to up to seven schools; spaces at high-demand schools are assigned through a lottery system determined by a variety of socio-economic factors.
