Scammers milk $7,000 out of elderly jaywalker

Police are hunting heartless scammers who persuaded an elderly man in San Francisco to pay them $7,000 as a penalty for jaywalking.

The 88-year-old man’s daughter called police saying her pops had jaywalked at 19th and Holloway avenues, near San Francisco State University, on Friday afternoon.

One of two men told her pops that he could get in a lot of trouble for jaywalking, but that if he shelled out $7,000 “he would take care of it,” police at Ingleside Station said.

The elderly man brought the men to a bank, withdrew the cash, then gave it to them, police said.

But the scum scammers weren’t done. They tried to convince the elderly man to try withdrawing money at another bank. But he wasn’t able to withdraw any more cash, and when he left the bank the two men were gone, police said.
