Diana Fuller is on the board of directors for the Roxie Theater, which will host the International Bowwow Doggie Film Festival on Saturday. Dogs and their owners are invited to attend a full-day program including a family-friendly matinee, a dog parade and judged show, prizes, question-and-answer session, live adoption and an evening screening. Ticket proceeds benefit Muttville, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of senior dogs. Call (415) 431-3611 or visit roxie.com.

What was the initial idea behind the Doggie Film Festival? The Roxie is one of The City’s treasures. We’re a community-oriented theater, and our community includes dogs. San Francisco is a big dog town. This is the first international dog film festival, and we intend to repeat it every year.

Do you own a dog? Yes, his name is Earnest. He’s an art dog. He goes to all the art exhibitions in town.

What do you think will be one of the best parts of the day? The ultimate dream is to take a photograph at 5 p.m. of the dogs in the audience. We hope it goes viral and shows off the weird, strange city that is San Francisco.
